On My Knees
She walked in on her best friend’s brother in the shower. She didn’t walk back out.
I have one rule in our apartment: knock before you use the bathroom.
The one morning I forget, my roommate’s brother is in the shower. Colton is supposed to be stuck in Denver. Instead he’s standing under the spray in the middle of a very private moment, and he isn’t expecting company.
He doesn’t grab a towel. He looks at me through the glass, grins, and asks if I’m going to shut the door or keep staring.
I keep staring. I’ve never seen a man built like him, and I tell him so.
Then I cross the bathroom and get down on my knees.
Colton is sleeping on our pull-out couch while he hunts for an apartment across town, and he’ll be gone the day he signs a lease. He’s my best friend’s brother. Our walls are paper thin. Over coffee we agree it was a one-time thing, and neither of us believes it for a second.
He’s big and quiet and careful. He fixes my squeaky desk chair without being asked, and he flinches every time I tell him I want him, like he’s waiting for me to take it back. Somebody taught him he’s too much.
I want all of him, and I’ve never been quiet about what I want.
He keeps calling this temporary. I plan to change his mind.
A walk-in meet-cute, her best friend’s brother, one shared bathroom, a gentle giant who’s been told he’s too much, a heroine who goes after what she wants, and a happily ever after. Standalone. Book 1 of The Whole Hog.
Let’s Go Deep
She planned every minute of this vacation. She didn’t plan on her dive instructor.
I don’t do spontaneous. I do itineraries, and I laminate them.
So when my best friend dared me to try one reckless thing on her bachelorette trip, I picked the safest reckless thing I could find: a beginner scuba course with a certification card at the end, finished in time for my flight home and my new promotion.
The morning of my first lesson, I show up at the dive shop early, because I always show up early. The side door is propped open. My instructor is alone in the gear room, fresh out of the water with his wetsuit peeled down to his hips and his hand where it definitely shouldn’t be. He came in cold from a dawn dive and thought he had the shop to himself.
Griffin Talbot doesn’t scramble. He looks at me, calm as anything, and quotes the first rule of diving back at me: go slow, breathe, don’t rush.
I should leave. I stay.
Now every lesson comes with his hands on my gear and his voice low in my ear. When I try to hurry our first kiss on the boat, he holds me off and makes me wait for it.
I’ve never wanted to rush anything so badly. So I learn his trick, and I start using it on him.
He’s spent years watching tourists like me fly home at the end of the week. My flight is booked. My new job starts Monday.
Nothing about this was supposed to go deep.
A vacation romance with a walk-in meet-cute, a patient dive instructor, the planner he keeps making wait, a flight home on the clock, and a happily ever after. Standalone. Book 2 of The Whole Hog.
