The Dragon King’s Rejected Mate
Her mate chose her cousin. The Dragon King chose her.
Four years. That’s how long I was his.
Then, in the middle of the village square, with everyone we know watching, my mate broke our bond and chose my cousin instead.
She was already wearing his mark.
My own family didn’t take my side. When the Dragon King called every unmated girl to his Mating Trials, they packed my trunk and sent me off so the neighbors would stop talking. Nobody expected a plain, cast-off girl like me to be matched with anyone. Least of all me.
So I hid in the King’s forge, where no one would see me cry.
The only one who noticed was the smith. Huge, bearded, soot to his elbows, and the first man in years who looked at me like I was worth wanting. With him, I stopped feeling like leftovers.
I had no idea the man I was falling for was the King himself.
Now my ex is standing at the gates with my cousin on his arm, all smiles, asking me for favors.
He threw me away in front of the whole village.
Now he gets to watch me become Queen.
A rejected mate fantasy romance with a dragon King in disguise, a public comeuppance, and a baby at the end. Standalone. Book 1 of The Mating Trials.
